Form 1040 - prompts you to fill in a phone # for designee which causes an error message that will not go away or allow you to E File

I did not experience that at all yesterday. Was there another update this morning that ,ay have created this issue?
Do you have a phone number entered in Tools > Preparer Information? The 3rd party designee should pull the info from there.

I have a # entered - problem started yesterday - did a full update this AM - still there - did not have an issue before yesterday

you may be able to efile by removing the check-mark in 'enable conversion error checking' in the Convert/ transmit returns... but I'd be VERY careful that the forms (including the signatory and designee are correct) I haven't had any problems with the preparer/designee info at all.
If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround

I thought I saw someone say they just went into Tools>Options and entered a preparer phone number in the preparer information and it fixed it, but that seems too obvious and easy.

I went into tools > options and entered the phone # there - now no error message - thanks for following up

Yes it is in prepared information. I get one message that states no number should be entered and another that states it must be entered
