Can I use the 2018 partnership program to e-file a short year 2019 extension that went final in 8/19?. I have the form looking right with date changes, final and short year, etc.

It seems that a 2019 extension can be filed as a short year not a return.

I guess I’ll call support the penalties are too onerous if it backfires. Thanks for all replies here.

(for Susan)
@Michael G. Ellis CPA - why not file the extension, gasp...the old fashioned way on paper???
Support will NOT be paying any penalties that are incurred.

Since the 7004 is evergreen you might be able to do it. As long as it's transmitting the data correctly it should feed into the IRS computers. Personally, I'd paper file it. But I am curious as to whether this would work electronically.
