Can we amend a closed tax year like 2012 do include the capital loss from 2011

I believe you can, but the SOL for refunds comes in effect. It would help reduce a tax liability.

What if the thought is to amend 2012 to increase the carryover for a missed carryover from 2011? Just checking the fog in my crystal ball.
