I have a 25 year old single taxpayer (& no dependents)

with only one W-2 box 1 wages of $5.050 disqualifying him

to be a dependent on his parent's 2023 tax return.  He has

a 2023 1098-T showing only in qualified fees, tuition, etc,

box $26,525 (no scholarships).  He has no other income.

Is there any reason he would not qualify for earned

income credit (with 0 children)?

Thanks for your opinions & any other info.  mikeburg

I don't see anything in your post that disqualifies EIC, so it seems likely they may qualify (unless he doesn't meet some other requirement that you haven't mentioned).

If the return is not calculating EIC and you think it should, take a look at the EIC Worksheet.  There should be a box(es) checked to indicate why disallowed.

There are two questions beneath the dependents section of the Info W/S and both must be answered Y or N before EIC is allowed.

{Sorry, this is in Pro Series. Does Lacerte have such questions? They should somewhere.}
