April 15 was taking 7 to 10 days to process. I did have one person file early and the 5/17 payment showed up on 5/15. IRS is trying really hard, but they also had a tough tax season.
An eventually-successful direct debit request sent with a timely-filed return will be treated as paid on May 17th, even if the IRS takes longer to actually take their money.
