As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 7. This means that computers running on Windows 7 will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. To avoid these risks, Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 10.

At Intuit, security of your data is a top priority. Therefore, beginning with the first release of the 2019 tax software, customers will no longer be able to install ProSeries or Lacerte if they are running on a Windows 7 operating system.

• After January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008.
• With the 2019 product release and going forward, neither ProSeries nor Lacerte will support Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, due to the fact that they are no longer able to install security updates, making the machines susceptible to viruses and data breaches.
• Older years of both ProSeries and Lacerte will install and function as normal.

From Microsoft Support: "If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but may become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your PC will continue to start and run, but Microsoft will no longer provide OS 7 support for your business."
