Intuit® Tax Council Member Profile: Timothy Wingate Jr., EA

Timothy Wingate Jr., EA, is founder and president of G+F Business & Financial Consulting LLC in West Palm Beach, Fla., a full-service firm he started in 2016 that specializes in construction accounting for small businesses. He is also a member of the Intuit® Tax Council.

ProConnect: Tell us about your practice.

Timothy Wingate: We primarily serve remodelers, specialty contractors and general contractors. Job costing is at the core of what we do to help our clients improve project profitability. We help our clients identify and implement effective accounting methods that give them the best tax outcome. We also help improve construction processes by implementing the right technology within their businesses.

ProConnect: Why is the Intuit Tax Council important to the profession?

Timothy Wingate: It connects the top leaders in the profession from all over the country to share best practices with the Intuit team. By creating this Council, Intuit demonstrated they truly care about their partners and want us all to be successful. The Council ensures that voices of the end users are heard, and allows the members to help shape software improvements or new ideas.

ProConnect: What’s your favorite part of being a part of the Council?

Timothy Wingate: Connecting with Intuit leadership and other professionals from around the country allows you to brainstorm with the best of the best.

ProConnect: What kind of Intuit software do you use?

Timothy Wingate: We use Intuit ProConnect Tax Online, QuickBooks® Online, TSheets by QuickBooks and QuickBooks Payroll.

ProConnect: What are your goals for your practice in 2020?

Timothy Wingate: I have many goals! I want to double our revenue, speak at an Intuit event, speak at a construction event, and build an active partnership with a financial advisor and bonding agent. I also want to expand my team to two bookkeepers, one virtual assistant and one social media manager.

ProConnect: What was your very first job?

Timothy Wingate: I worked with my father on his construction jobs. My father has been a licensed general contractor since 1984, so every summer and many weekends, I had no choice but to work on his jobs.

ProConnect: Who is your favorite author, and why?

Timothy Wingate: Keith J. Cunningham. I love his no nonsense way of writing, and you can tell he is writing from experience instead of theory. He has affirmed my way of approaching business.

ProConnect: If you were stranded on a desert island with access to just one kind of technology, what would it be, and why would you want it?

Timothy Wingate: A satellite phone. I would like to have this technology so that whomever I call can get the exact coordinates to my location, and know that I’m alive because they spoke to me.
