Using firm print settings in ProConnect

New for tax year 2022, ProConnect has added print settings at the firm level that you may customize by tax return and recipient type.

These new print settings will only apply to returns made in tax year 2022 and forward.

To adjust global print settings:

  1. From the left-hand navigation bar, go to Settings Print Settings.
  2. Using the drop-down menu along the top of the screen, select the desired tax return type.
  3. Below the drop-down menu will be three tabs:
    • Client copy: The version of the return that you would print for your client.
    • Preparer copy: The version of the return that you would keep for archival purposes.
    • Government copy: The version of the return that you would send to the taxing authorities in the event of paper-filing.
  4. For each tab, make the desired selections for the tax return type you selected in step 2.
    • You may select whole sections of the return by placing a checkmark next to the section title.
    • You may also select specific forms and worksheets from sections of the return by expanding that section and placing a checkmark next to what you want to print.
  5. You may change the order in which the forms will print by selecting ⋮⋮ for the desired portion and dragging it to the preferred position in the ordering.

To use new print settings:

  1. From within a tax return, go to File Return.
  2. Under the Print section located to the right, you will notice a pink dot by two options, indicating new functionality:
    • Print to PDF
    • Partial print to PDF

Print to PDF

  1. At the top of this screen will be two options:
    • Print with customized firm settings
    • Print complete return
  2. After making the above selection, in the next section you may select which return copy to print:
    • Client copy
    • Preparer copy
    • Government copy
  3. Toggle any necessary choices with the remaining print options:
    • Mask SSN and add watermark
    • Add watermark only
  4. If you toggled ON any of the above choices, define the watermark with the Watermark drop-down menu.
  5. Select Create PDF.

Partial print to PDF

If you have specific needs for a client that your customized firm settings do not accommodate, this option allows you to choose what prints specifically for this print job.

  1. From the list of forms, place a checkmark by what you would like to print.
  2. Using the ⋮⋮ icon, drag and drop forms into the order you would like them to print.
  1. Toggle any necessary choices with the remaining print options:
    • Mask SSN and add watermark
    • Add watermark only
  2. If you toggled ON any of the above choices, define the watermark with the Watermark drop-down menu.
  3. Select Create PDF.
