Marking federal returns as initial or final in ProConnect

How do you mark a return as Initial, Final, or both in ProConnect?

Corporate

  1. Go to Input Return  General Miscellaneous Information 
  2. Select the Miscellaneous tab.
  3. Scroll Down to Miscellaneous 
  4. Enter 1=initial return, 2=final return, 3=both

Partnership

  1. Go to Input Return  General Miscellaneous Information 
  2. Select the Miscellaneous tab.
  3. Under the Miscellaneous Information section, select the box Initial return (if applicable)
  4. Under the Final Return subsection, select Final return (if applicable)
    • Select both boxes to mark the return as Initial and Final.

S corporate

  1. Go to Input Return  General Miscellaneous Information 
  2. Select the box Initial return (if applicable).
  3. Under the Final Return subsection, select Final return (if applicable).
    • Select both boxes to mark the return as Initial and Final.

Exempt Organization

  1. Go to Input Return  General Miscellaneous Information 
  2. Under section Miscellaneous (990-N, 990, 990-PF, 990-T) in the field labeled 1=initial return, 2=final return/termination, 3=both, enter a 12, or 3.

Fiduciary

  1. Go to Input Return  General Miscellaneous Information 
  2. Select the Miscellaneous tab.
  3. Under the Estate/Trust Information section, select the box Initial return (if applicable)
  4. Under the Final Year Estate/Trust subsection, select Final return (if applicable)
    • Select both boxes to mark the return as Initial and Final.
