Program or window opening off screen or minimized in Intuit Hosting

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated September 21, 2021

Before you start:

  • The Lacerte/ProSeries Tool Hubs can't be used in the Intuit Hosting environment. If you're not using Intuit Hosting see Lacerte program or a Lacerte pop-up window opens off screen.
  • Make sure the Intuit Hosting environment is maximized, it should look like this: Hosted Maximized Blue Bar
  • By default, keyboard shortcuts will work in Intuit Hosting when the Right Networks environment is maximized.
  • If you want to change the keyboard shortcut options, or if the keyboard shortcuts aren't working, see the Why are my keyboard shortcuts not working section in Intuit Hosting Frequently Asked Questions.

Using keyboard shortcuts to move the program

  1. Sign in to Right Networks and make sure it's maximized.
    1. If you see this icon in the upper right instead of the blue toolbar, select it to maximize the Intuit Hosting environment.
      Maximize Toggle
  2. Open the tax software.
  3. Select the software icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
    • For example: If the issue is happening with Lacerte, select Lacerte.
  4. Hold down Alt, press and release Space, then release Alt.
  5. Press M to select Move
    • You may not see this normally hidden menu so it may appear as if nothing has happened so far.

  6. Tap the arrow up key on the keyboard once to start the move process, then move your mouse.
  7. If this keyboard trick is working, you'll see the window or an outline of it.
  8. Click with your mouse button to stop moving the window.
  9. If the window doesn't come into view, continue to the next steps:
  10. While holding down both the Alt and Shift keys press the arrow keys ↑ ↓ → ← one at a time to slowly move the program window into view.
  11. If the above keyboard shortcuts don't solve the issue see below for program-specific solutions.

For Lacerte, if the keyboard shortcuts don't fix the issue you'll need to rename the .ini for the year:

  1. Select Logoff, then sign back into the Right Networks environment to close Lacerte and all it's supporting files.
  2. Open File Explorer.
  3. Browse to H:\Application Data\Lacerte.
  4. Highlight the WYYtax.ini file.
    • YY is the year Lacerte
    • You may not see the .ini depending on your computer settings.
  5. Select the Rename button on the Home tab and add old to the end of the file name.

  6. Open Lacerte to make sure the issue is resolved.

Lacerte Tax Planner remembers its position in the registry. You'll need to call to speak with a Lacerte Intuit Hosting agent if further assistance is needed. See article How to contact Lacerte for help for phone number and hours.

Lacerte Document Management System remembers its position in the registry. You'll need to call to speak with a Lacerte Intuit Hosting agent if further assistance is needed. See article How to contact Lacerte for help for phone number and hours.

For ProSeries Fixed Asset Manager, if the keyboard shortcuts do not resolve the issue you will need to rename the .ini for the year:

  1. Select Logoff, then sign back into the Right Networks environment to close Fixed Asset Manager and all it's supporting files.
  2. Open File Explorer.
  3. Browse to H:\FamWinYY.
    • YY is the year of Fixed Asset Manager.
  4. Highlight the famwYY.ini file.
    • You may not see the .ini depending on your computer settings.
  5. Select the Rename button on the Home tab and add old to the end of the file name.
  6. Open Fixed Asset Manager to make sure the issue is resolved.
