Indicating Virginia Nonmilitary spouse in ProConnect

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated June 29, 2023

If the taxpayers are filing as married filing jointly for federal tax purposes and the nonmilitary spouse is required to file as Married Filing Separately for Virginia tax purposes:

  1. From the Input Return tab, go to State & Local Other VA Nonmilitary Spouse.
  2. In the Nonmilitary spouse filing MFS for F760/F760-PY: 1=TP nonmilitary, 2=SP nonmilitary input:
    • Input a 1 if the Taxpayer is nonmilitary
    • Input a 2 if the Spouse is nonmilitary

ProConnect will only print the nonmilitary spouse's name on the 760CG/760PY and mark it Married Filing Separately.
