If the taxpayers are filing as married filing jointly for federal tax purposes and the nonmilitary spouse is required to file as Married Filing Separately for Virginia tax purposes:
- From the Input Return tab, go to State & Local ⮕ Other ⮕ VA Nonmilitary Spouse.
- In the Nonmilitary spouse filing MFS for F760/F760-PY: 1=TP nonmilitary, 2=SP nonmilitary input:
- Input a 1 if the Taxpayer is nonmilitary
- Input a 2 if the Spouse is nonmilitary
ProConnect will only print the nonmilitary spouse's name on the 760CG/760PY and mark it Married Filing Separately.
