Use Schedule SE (Form 1040) to figure the tax due on net earnings from self-employment. The Social Security Administration uses the information from Schedule SE to figure your benefits under the social security program. This tax applies no matter how old you are and even if you are already getting social security or Medicare benefits. Lacerte will automatically generate the Schedule SE based on entries on the Schedule C, Schedule F, and Partnership K-1s.
From page 1 of the 2022 Schedule SE instructions: "Self-employed tax payments deferred in 2020. Previous legislation allowed for self-employed individuals to defer the payment of certain social security taxes from 2020 over the next 2 years. See IRS.gov/Payments for more information about payment options."
