Resolving PDF printing issues when printing from Lacerte to DMS

SOLVEDby Intuit4Updated over 1 year ago

When trying to print to the Document Management System (DMS) from Lacerte, the Lacerte program seems to send the PDF print job to DMS, but the PDF file isn't created in the DMS client folder.

You can often resolve this issue by running the Lacerte PDF Tool. See Remove and reinstall Lacerte and DMS PDF printer drivers for more information.

If you continue to experience problems, see the solutions below.

How to resolve PDF printing issues to DMS from Lacerte

You may need to manually change settings in the DMS PDF Printer.

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R.
  2. In the Run prompt, enter control printers and select OK.
  3. In the Devices and Printers window, right-click DMS PDF Printer and hover over Printer Properties to expand your options.
  4. Select DMS PDF Printer.
  5. In the DMS PDF Printer Properties window, select the Preferences button.
  6. In the DMS PDF Printer Printing Preferences window, select the Destination tab.
  7. Select File system (if it isn't already) and its corresponding Options button.
  8. In the File system window, make sure the following settings are correct:
    • Destination file should be set to Document title.
    • Default Directory should be set to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\DMS\Temp.
  9. Select OK and OK again to close the DMS PDF Printer Properties window.
  10. Return to Lacerte and print to DMS again.

If the Lacerte PDF Tool doesn't resolve your issue, and you've already walked through the steps above, try removing the PDF printer and reinstalling DMS.

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R.
  2. In the Run prompt, enter control printers and select OK.
  3. In the Devices and Printers window, right-click DMS PDF Printer.
  4. Select Remove Device or Delete Print Queue, then select the DMS PDF Printer if it's stacked on another printer driver.
  5. Browse to C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Intuit\DMS.
  6. Run the DMSsetup.exe file and select the Repair button.
  7. Return to Lacerte and print to DMS again.
