Detail/Form Split View

This is especially useful when running "what if?" scenarios, where it is desirable to see how a return is affected by specific entries. For example, entering an IRA or SEP contribution.

To use the Detail/Form Split View:

  1. Go to the Detail Input Screen.
  2. From the View menu, select Detail/Form Split View, then Detail/Forms Split View.
    • This will place a checkmark next to the Detail/Form Split to turn the function on in Lacerte.
  3. Once the Detail/Form Split view is selected the screen will show:
    • The list of forms on the left.
      1. Only forms that are generated on the Forms tab will appear on the list. If the form isn't generating you'll need to first generate the form then click on the Detail/Form Split view.
    • The Detail Input Screen in the middle, and
    • The Forms view on the right.
    • If you have a smaller screen or Lacerte isn't Maximized, the screen will show:
      • The list of forms on the left,
      • The Detail Input Screen at the top, and
      • The Forms view on the bottom.
  4. Select the applicable Form from the list on the left.
  5. Enter the applicable data in the Detail Input Screen.

Once you start entering information in the detail input screen the list of forms on the left will disappear. This is so you can have the full benefit of the Detail Input Screen.

  1. Click on the Forms tab at the bottom of the screen.
    • Alternatively, you may mouseover to the Form on the right.
  2. Click on the Forms bar at the top.
  1. From the View menu, select Detail/Form Split View, then Detail/Forms Split View.

This should remove the checkbox next to the Detail/Form Split and turn off the function within Lacerte.
