How to show batch mode codes in Lacerte

SOLVEDby Intuit10Updated December 13, 2023

Diagnostics and articles often refer to a code or input sheet code where an entry or correction needs to be made.

Where are these codes and how are they accessed?  There are two ways to Show Codes referred to in the diagnostics and content steps.

Method 1:

  1. Go to the entry screen indicated in the diagnostic.
  2. Right-click on the gray bar at the top of the screen with the screen name and number on it.
  3. Select Show Codes in the window that appears.
    • The code numbers will appear in the entry fields.
  4. Locate the code referred to in the diagnostic and make the appropriate entry.
  5. Leaving the screen will remove the codes.
  6. Show Codes must be deselected and reselected.
    • Follow Steps 2 to 4 to make the codes reappear.
  7. If the referenced code is a check box then go to Method 2.

Method 2:

  1. Go to the entry screen indicated in the diagnostic.
  2. Press Ctrl+W to open the Batch Entry View.
  3. Select the correct entry screen located in the left column under the heading Input Sheet.
  4. Under the Code column enter the referred Code Number.
  5. Under the Amount column enter the appropriate amount.
    • If the code is a check box enter a 1 then enable a check.
  6. Press Ctrl+W to return to the normal screen.
    • An advantage to using Method 2 is that when returning to the normal view the cursor will be at the location of the referred code.

Both of the two methods will provide the location(s) of the code(s) referred to in the diagnostics.
