Common questions about Kentucky city returns in Lacerte

SOLVEDby Intuit1Updated July 10, 2023

Below, you'll find answers to frequently asked questions about Kentucky city returns:

How do you generate Kentucky city returns?

Currently, Lacerte only supports Lexington and Louisville city returns for Kentucky.

  1. Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
  2. Select Add cities.
  3. Select Lexington and/or Louisville.
  4. Go to Screen 54, Taxes.
  5. Under the St. Taxes panel, select Kentucky Cities.
  6. Under General Information, select the city from the field City name.
  7. Enter applicable information as needed.

Other city-related input fields you should know:

  • You can enter Kentucky City Schedule C income and expenses in Screen 16, Business Income (Sch. C), in the section, City Information.
  • Screen 10, Wages, Salaries, Tips, has Kentucky city-related input fields in the State and Local section.

What Kentucky city returns does Lacerte support?

Lacerte only supports Louisville and Lexington.

When printing a Local/City Income Tax return, can you remove the Local Tax Envelope slip sheet from printing with any copy of the return?

No, you can't. Local Slip Sheets print automatically, despite what you chose for the State Slip Sheets in User Options' Items to Print.

If there aren't entries in Detail screen 54 for a Local Taxing Authority Filing Address, the slip sheet will still print with just the taxpayer's name and address.

One solution is to print a partial return and leave the Slip Sheets box unmarked for the Local/City return.
