Before 2022 ProSeries was released, 2021 and older years in the hosted environment gave the option to install either the standalone or network version of ProSeries Professional. Now, all new installs in the hosted environment are added using the default file locations for network versions. This article will help you with how to migrate from the standalone installation.
This article uses YY to reference the tax year in 20YY format.
Switching from the standalone installations of ProSeries Professional in Right Networks for Intuit Hosting

- The installation will begin, and when it's complete, you'll see 20YY Professional Tax in the Installed Applications section.
- If you are the Account Owner, or an Account Admin, and also want to install the other version for your other users:
- Select the Admin Console.
- Go to the Users tab.
- Click on the name of the user to be taken to their Apps screen.
- Scroll down to the Available Applications section and locate 20YY Professional Tax.
- Choose Install.
- Select All Users in the upper left to quickly get back to your list of users if you need to repeat to install for additional users.
Installing additional tax types and states
ProSeries won't be able to open, or restore, client files without the needed products installed, but the program is slow with everything installed. In the hosted environment, ProSeries starts by installing just Federal Products 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065. To install additional needed products:
- Open ProSeries.
- From the Update menu, choose Select and Download New Products.
- Check the appropriate boxes for the federal and state products needed.
- Select Next so the update begins, choose Install Now when prompted.
Copying over 2020 and later clients and options to the default network location
- Copy the YYData folder from I:\ProSeriesYY\ProWinYY.
- You can use Ctrl+C (keyboard shortcuts work by default in the hosted environment when it's maximized) or select the Home tab in File Explorer and use the Copy button.
- Paste the YYData folder into I:\ProSeriesYY\ProNetYY.
- You can use Ctrl+V or select the Home tab in File Explorer and use the Paste button.
- Copy the Common folder from I:\ProSeriesYY\ProWinYY.
- Paste the Common folder into I:\ProSeriesYY\ProNetYY.
- Open ProSeries and change the HomeBase View to All Tax Returns.
- If the client files don't show, go to the HomeBase menu and choose HomeBase Maintenance, then select Fix it when prompted.
Copying over 2019 and earlier options to the default network location
- Copy the Common folder from I:\ProSeriesYY\ProWinYY.
- You can use Ctrl+C (keyboard shortcuts work by default in the hosted environment when it's maximized) or select the Home tab in File Explorer and use the Copy button.
- Paste the Common folder into I:\ProSeriesYY\ProNetYY.
- You can use Ctrl+V or select the Home tab in File Explorer and use the Paste button.
Restoring 2019 and earlier clients to the default network location
- Open ProSeries and change the HomeBase View to All Tax Returns.
- From the File menu, select Client File Maintenance and choose Restore.
- Select Set Source Directory, then browse to I:\ProSeriesYY\ProWinYY.
- Choose Select All for all clients, then click Restore client(s).
It's suggested to rename the ProWinYY folders in I:\ProSeriesYY adding OLD at the end to make it clear these standalone locations are no longer being used.
