Increase your Pay Per Return (PPR) balance

This article will help you increase your ProSeries Pay Per Return (PPR) balance using your program, online, or by phone.

Before you start

To increase your balance in ProSeries (available in TY20 and above):

  1. Open ProSeries to the HomeBase.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Pay Per Return.
  3. Choose Increase Account Balance.
  4. Select Online, then press OK.
  5. Enter the amount you want to add to your PPR balance.
  6. Choose the payment method you want to use, or add a new payment.
    • Only account admins can view, update, use, or save payment methods. If you're not an admin, you'll need to re-enter payment info each time you increase the PPR balance.
  7. Click OK.

To increase your balance online:

  1. Open ProSeries to the HomeBase.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Pay Per Return.
  3. Choose Increase Account Balance.
  4. Select Manual, then OK.
  5. Make note of the code listed beside "Provide this pay-per-return code when prompted":

    • Don't close the pop-up window or the code will no longer be valid.
  6. Sign in to My Account.
  7. From the left side of the screen select Billing, then ProSeries PPR.
  8. Enter the Payment Amount and the code you received in step 5.
  9. Select Add to Cart and complete your purchase and receive your manual increase code.
  10. Enter the manual increase code in ProSeries in the Enter authorization code box, and select OK.

To increase your balance by phone:

This option is only available during our support hours.

  1. Open ProSeries to the HomeBase.
  2. From the Tools menu at the top of the program, select Pay Per Return.
  3. Choose Increase Account Balance.
  4. Select Manual then OK.
  5. Make note of the code listed beside "Provide this pay-per-return code when prompted":

    • Don't close the pop-up window or the code will no longer be valid.
  6. Call us at 800-434-6818 during support hours.
  7. Place an order over the phone and receive your manual increase code.
  8. Enter the manual increase code in the Enter authorization code box, and click OK.

Pay-Per-Return account balances aren't refundable and aren't intended to be transferable or carried forward to another tax year. For this reason, we encourage you to only place the amount of money that you'll actually need in your Pay-Per-Return account. However, we understand that there will be some situations, such as the purchase of a new computer, when you'll need to have your Pay-Per-Return account balance transferred or adjusted.

We recognize how important it is to protect the funds in your Pay-Per-Return account and want to do everything possible to help you manage your account balance. If you encounter an issue that requires transferring or adjusting the Pay-Per-Return balance in your ProSeries program, follow the steps below to get assistance.

Contact ProSeries Customer Support at 800-374-7317 if:

  • You pre-paid your Pay-Per-Return fees when you placed your order and need to add these fees to your Pay-Per-Return account.
  • You need to transfer or adjust your Pay Per Return account balance.
