Importing Lacerte files to Intuit Hosting during setup

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated July 19, 2022

This article will help you with restoring client files and options into your tax software in Right Networks:

  1. Before you open 2021 Lacerte in the hosted environment to complete the automation, you'll need to place your prep.21 file:
    1. In your local 2021 Lacerte, press the F10 key (or from the Help menu select TroubleShoot).
    2. Note the Option path.
    3. Open File Explorer on your local computer and browse to the Option path.
    4. Locate the prep.21 file, then right-click on it and select Copy.
    5. Open the Right Networks remote desktop using the Right Networks.rdp shortcut.

    6. Open File Explorer in your hosted environment and browse to I:\Lacerte\21tax\Option21.
    7. Paste the prep.21 file inside.
      • You can use Ctrl+V (keyboard shortcuts work by default in the hosted environment when it's maximized) or select the Home tab in File Explorer and use the Paste button.
  2. Open the 2021 Lacerte Tax program in Right Networks.
  3. From the Tools menu, select Intuit Hosting for Lacerte Tax (Right Networks), then choose Import files into Hosting.
  4. Make sure that the Lacerte, Tax Planner, and DMS programs are closed.
  5. The File Selection screen will automatically detect all applications that were uploaded earlier. Make sure that this is accurate, and then select Start Import.
    • You can filter out the data paths that aren't required to be imported to the product by selecting the Filter data paths checkbox at the bottom of the wizard.
  6. After the Import completes, a Summary will be saved to your I:\ Drive. Click Close to finish.
