Troubleshooting ProSeries error - Invalid Form Path Entry

When attempting to open ProSeries, the program fails and generates the following error:

"Invalid Form Path Entry - Please reinstall ProSeries. Unable to locate your installed products."

This error can be caused by changing a drive mapping, or copying the ProWinYY folder (YY = tax year) from one computer to another.

How do I resolve this error?

Follow these steps for a network installation:

  1. Make sure no workstations have ProSeries open.
  2. Delete and rebuild the cache files:
    1. In Windows Explorer, open the C:\ProWinYYForms folder.
    2. Delete the files cache.fdfi and RNCACHE.
    3. Click the ProSeries icon/shortcut once to highlight it.
    4. Hold down CtrlEnter on your keyboard.
    5. Continue holding Ctrl until the message "One moment please." appears.

If you still can't open ProSeries:

  1. Uninstall the workstation:
    1. Go to the Windows Start menu.
    2. Select (All) Programs.
    3. Choose ProSeries 20YY.
    4. Select Uninstall.
  2. In File Explorer, open the C:\ProWinYY folder and delete the 32bit folder.
  3. Reinstall the workstation from the network WKSTN folder.
  4. For example, F:\PronetYYWKSTN.

Follow these steps for a standalone installation:

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu.
  2. Select (All) Programs.
  3. Choose ProSeries 20YY.
  4. Select Uninstall.
  5. In File Explorer, open the C:\ProWinYY folder.
  6. Rename the 32bit folder to 32bitOLD.
  7. Reinstall ProSeries.
