Common questions about the ProSeries Tax History Report

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated November 21, 2023

Below are solutions to frequently asked questions about the Tax History Report in ProSeries.

Preparation Fee is not printing on the Tax History Report

The program is functioning as designed.

The Tax History Report provides the tax preparer with on-screen visibility to fees charged to a returning client in prior years, when that client's data is transferred forward from the prior year. Many tax preparers like to provide their clients with a copy of the Tax History Report, which provides up to a 5-year view of their financial history. However, the Preparation Fee row should never be printed on the Tax History Report.

If there was an error during the transfer, the client file may be missing. Open the prior year return and make sure the return has data on it. If it does, you can transfer the client file to see if the data will transfer.

The steps below will erase data you have currently entered.

Follow these steps to transfer the client file:

  1. Open the client return.
  2. From the File menu, select Transfer.
    • In ProSeries Basic, select Transfer Clients.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Choose the client file form the list.
  5. Click OK.
