Entering Texas Web File Numbers in Lacerte

SOLVEDby Intuit63Updated December 04, 2023

The Texas Web File Number is a security code that was mailed to all State of Texas Franchise taxpayers. If the taxpayer has misplaced the information, it can be retrieved by calling the Electronic Reporting Section at 1-800-442-3453.

Preparers are required to enter either the taxpayer's 'Webfile Number' or Total Revenue from the latest tax return for the return. This information will be used for verification before the state of Texas accepts the return.  First-time taxpayers must file using a paper return.

In the Total Revenue field in each of the screens below, enter the non-zero Total Revenue line from the taxpayer's latest tax return. If the value is zero, the Webfile Number must be used.

  • Individual Module - Screen 54.431, Electronic Filing in the Texas Miscellaneous section. (Note: In TY18 and prior, these fields were located on Screen 4.4)
  • Partnership Module - Screen 4, Electronic Filing in the Texas Miscellaneous section.
  • Corporate Module - Screen 4.2, Electronic Filing in the Texas Miscellaneous section.
  • S-Corporation Module - Screen 3.2, Electronic Filing in the Texas Miscellaneous section.
