One of the selected returns has invalid ERO EFIN in ProSeries

SOLVEDby Intuit20Updated November 21, 2023

When attempting to e-file from a new computer you may receive an error message saying One of the selected returns has an invalid ERO EFIN. Please correct the EFIN and retry. This error message happens when the client file is out of sync with the EFIN in the Firm Preparer Info.

If only one return is giving the error:

  1. Open the tax return.
  2. Press F5 on the keyboard to run final review.
  3. Open the first attached state.
  4. Press F9 then F10 recalculate and save the return.
  5. Repeat step 5 on each attached state and city return.
  6. The EFIN and ERO information will now be synchronized on all tax returns.
  7. Attempt to e-file again.

If the error continues to happen:

  • For some state or city tax returns it may also be necessary to run the Final Review and save the return again. For more information on running the Final Review see How to run Final Review.

If multiple returns are giving the error:

  1. Open ProSeries to the HomeBase.
  2. Select all files that are giving the error.
  3. From the File menu, select Create PDF File.
  4. Select a single copy of the federal and state returns.
  5. Click Print to resync the client files with the EFIN and ERO Information.
  6. Attempt to e-file again.

If you're still receiving the error:

If the steps above didn't fix the error, then this may be caused by a damaged or missing HomeBase record. Rebuilding the HomeBase known to fix this issue if the above steps didn't. For more information, see How to completely rebuild the HomeBase.
