Checking the acknowledgment status of an e-filed return

Before you start:

  • Federal return acknowledgments are usually available within one to three days.
  • State return acknowledgments are usually available within two to five business days.
  • Processing delays are not common but they do happen. Check here to see if there are any known processing delays.
  • When you e-file a return ProSeries automatically checks for any outstanding e-file acknowledgments that you have not yet received.

To manually check for acknowledgments:

Option 1, and 2 below will check the Intuit Electronic Filing Center for any acknowledgments for your Customer Number and EFIN that have not yet been picked up by your firm.

Option 1:

  1. Go to the EF Center HomeBase view or the EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
  2. From the E-file menu, select Check EF & Pay-by-Refund Acknowledgments.

Option 2:

  1. Go to the EF Center HomeBase view or the EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
  2. From the E-file menu, select Electronic Filing.
  3. Select Receive Acknowledgment Statuses.

Acknowledgments still not updating?

This method will check the Intuit Electronic Filing Center for a specific acknowledgment for the selected return whether it has previously been picked up by your firm or not.

  1. Go to the EF Center HomeBase view ProSeries Professional or the EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
  2. Highlight the returns that remain outstanding.
  3. From the E-file menu, select Electronic Filing.
  4. Select Update Acknowledgement Status of Selected Returns/Extensions/Payments
  5. Choose to update Only the selected return.
  6. Click OK to retrieve the latest available status.

You may also click the Update EF Status link in the Next Step column to request the latest e-file status for a return.

When you need to receive acknowledgments for returns that were filed electronically from another computer, use the Update Acknowledgment Status of Selected Returns option.

  1. Go to the EF Center.
  2. Highlight the client(s) that haven't received acknowledgments.
    • You can select more than one client (if necessary) by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking each client.
    • You can also highlight the first client then hold Shift and click the last one to select all clients.
  3. From the E-File menu, select Electronic Filing and choose Update Acknowledgment Status of Selected Returns/Extensions/Payments.
  4. In the next screen, Select Update only the selected returns/extensions/payments.
  5. Click Check Now.
    • ProSeries will download the current electronic filing status for each selected client.
 

If you file a return with ProSeries Professional, you'll only be able to receive acknowledgements for that return in ProSeries Professional. A return filed within ProSeries Basic can't be retrieved in Professional and vice versa.
