How to generate Form 8864 in ProConnect

This article will assist you with generating Form 8864, Biodiesel and Renewable Diesel Fuels Credit, in ProConnect​.

Refer to the IRS Instructions for Form 8864 for more information.

To generate Form 8864 in the program:

1. From the Input Return tab, go to Credits ⮕ General Business and Vehicle Cr. 
2. Go to the Energy/Fuel Production tab at the top of the screen.
3. Scroll down to the Biodiesel and Renewable Diesel Fuels Credit (8864) section.
4. Enter the Biodiesel (other than agri-biodiesel) field.
5. Enter any other applicable fields in this section.

Additional important information:

• Diagnostic ref. #10568 will generate reminding you to attach a Certificate for Biodiesel and/or Statement of Biodiesel Reseller to the return in order to claim the credit. You can attach the certificate or statement as a PDF in the File Return tab.
• If you aren't attaching the certificate or statement as a PDF, mark the checkbox labeled Attach biodiesel and renewable diesel fuel credit certificate or reseller statement to 8453 (electronic filing only) to have the program generate Form 8453 so that you can send the statement via mail.
