"Consolidator Already Authorized" when getting REP for a consolidated return

SOLVEDby IntuitLacerte TaxUpdated 1 month ago

When attempting to transmit REP authorization on a consolidated return you may get a message which states:

"Consolidator Already Authorized."

How to solve:

  1. Open the parent return.
  2. Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
  3. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Info section.
  4. Verify that the Consolidator? checkbox is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck this box.
  5. Click on the Forms tab.
  6. Ensure that REP has been authorized for the parent return.
  1. Open the subsidiary return(s).
  2. Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
  3. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Info section.
  4. Verify that the Consolidator? checkbox is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck this box.
  5. Click on the Forms tab.
  6. Ensure that REP has been authorized for the subsidiary return.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each subsidiary.
  1. Open the consolidator return.
  2. Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
  3. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Info section.
  4. Verify that the Consolidator? checkbox is checked. If it is not checked, check this box.
  5. Go to Screen 3, Consolidated Information.
  6. Click on Affiliations Schedule (851) from the top left navigation panel. (This will take you to Screen 3.1, Affiliations Schedule (851), if not already there.)
  7. Verify that the Consolidator is not listed. (Only the Parent and Subs should be listed.)
    • If the consolidator is listed:
    1. Locate the Affiliate section from the middle left navigation panel.
    2. Click on the Consolidator.
    3. Click on Delete.
  8. Attempt to authorize for REP again.

If the error persists, try making a copy of the consolidator and get REP for the copy.  Delete the original if successful.
