When attempting to transmit REP authorization on a consolidated return you may get a message which states:
"Consolidator Already Authorized."
How to solve:
Step 1 - Verify the Parent is Setup Correctly
- Open the parent return.
- Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
- Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Info section.
- Verify that the Consolidator? checkbox is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck this box.
- Click on the Forms tab.
- Ensure that REP has been authorized for the parent return.
Step 2 - Verify the Subsidiaries are Setup Correctly
- Open the subsidiary return(s).
- Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
- Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Info section.
- Verify that the Consolidator? checkbox is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck this box.
- Click on the Forms tab.
- Ensure that REP has been authorized for the subsidiary return.
- Repeat steps 1-6 for each subsidiary.
Step 3 - Verify the Consolidator is Setup Correctly
- Open the consolidator return.
- Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
- Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Info section.
- Verify that the Consolidator? checkbox is checked. If it is not checked, check this box.
- Go to Screen 3, Consolidated Information.
- Click on Affiliations Schedule (851) from the top left navigation panel. (This will take you to Screen 3.1, Affiliations Schedule (851), if not already there.)
- Verify that the Consolidator is not listed. (Only the Parent and Subs should be listed.)
- If the consolidator is listed:
- Locate the Affiliate section from the middle left navigation panel.
- Click on the Consolidator.
- Click on Delete.
- Attempt to authorize for REP again.
If the error persists, try making a copy of the consolidator and get REP for the copy. Delete the original if successful.
