Troubleshooting DBISAM engine error 9217 - Error opening DMS

When attempting to open Document Management System (DMS), you receive the following error:

DBISAM Engine Error 9217, Error reading from the table or backup file Data01a.

This issue may be caused by corrupt index files within the DMS database or a connectivity issue with the host computer.

If the database is shared with other users, make sure you're able to access the network drive it resides on and have proper permissions to the database folder. You may need to restart the host computer (server), followed by the workstations.

If the error persists—especially if the same error is on other workstations—use the steps in this article to run the DMS Database Repair Utility.
