Run Time Error 52 in EasyACCT

RTE 52 can be the result of :

Conflict with Anti-Virus programs:

  • Don't run more than one Anti-Virus program in real-time scanning on the same computer.  If more than one Anti-Virus is installed, only one of them should be set to real-time scanning, the other should be used only for manual scanning. 
  • This is especially important if EasyACCT data is on a different computer.  If the program and the data are on different computers (that is a server), then configure one of the Anti-Virus programs to exclude the EasyACCT data path as well as the ezacctw.exe file from real-time scanning. 
  • Keep in mind Spyware and Anti-Virus aren't the same thing.  Spyware can be running while the Anti-Virus, but not the two Anti-Virus. We don't support Anti-Virus Software. The settings will be determined by you or your IT professional. 

UAC (User Account Controls):

  • Windows has User Account Controls in the Control Panel that are security settings for changes made to the computer.
  • If the UAC is set to the highest level, try reducing it down at least one level, or "Never notify":
    1. Go to Start > Control Panel. 
    2. Change the View to Small Icons in the upper right, if necessary.
    3. Select User Accounts.
    4. Select Change User Account Control Settings.
    5. Pull the lever to the bottom = Never Notify.
    6. Select OK. 
    7. Reboot your computer.

Rights:

  • Right-click on the EasyACCT icon and select Run as administrator.

Permissions:

  • The User must have full control permissions on the data folder.
    • To view effective permissions on files and folders:
      1. Open Windows Explorer, and then locate the file or folder for which you would like to view effective permissions.
      2. Right-click the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab*.
      3. Click Advanced, and then click the Effective Permissions tab.
      4. Click the Select button.
      5. In Name, enter the name of a user or group and then click OK. The selected check boxes indicate the effective permissions of the user or group for that file or folder.
    • To set or change permissions on files and folders:
      1. Right-click the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
      2. To set permissions for a group or user that does not appear in the Group or user names box, click Add. Type the name of the group or user you want to set permissions for and then click OK.
      3. To change or remove permissions from an existing group or user, click the name of the group or user.
      4. To allow or deny a permission, in the Permissions for User or Group box, select the Allow or Deny check box.
      5. To remove the group or user from the Group or user names box, click Remove.

*Important!  If you are not joined to a domain and want to view the Security tab:

  •   From the Start menu, go to Settings, then Control Panel. From Control Panel, got to Folder Options, and from View check Use Simple File Sharing (recommended).

Missing or damaged Windows registry files:

  1. Go to C:\EASYW\NETWORK\setup.exe
  2. Select Reinstall all files to restore missing or damaged files.
  3. Be sure to reboot after any install or update.
