What software are you using?

What exactly is your question?

Why do you think they would receive the Child Tax Credit if there is no income?

I believe you have to have at least $2500 of earned income to get the ACTC

So why do we see posts that say you can get child care credit with no income?

I sure like to refer to IRS resources, since they have most of the control over these things:

https://www.eitc.irs.gov/other-refundable-credits-toolkit/what-you-need-to-know-about-ctc-and-actc/w...

And there are other links right there, for when you want to know more about, well, more stuff.

What posts are you talking about?  Are you talking about 2022?  The one-time rules for 2021 were much different than the 2022 or pre-2021 rules.

Unless a taxpayer is a full-time student or disabled, they need to have income.

If you google, for example:

2023 irs ctc

You find, for instance:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/family/7-requirements-for-the-child-tax-credit/L3wpfbpwQ

https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/child-tax-credit

And the IRS has tax wizards on all sorts of topics:

https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/does-my-childdependent-qualify-for-the-child-tax-credit-or-the-credit-f...

And you do this for the specific tax year you are working on, because things change. Thank you, Congress.

"I am referring to 2023."

We're referring to any year you are working on, you have to do the research to see what are the rules for that tax year.

This topic originated for tax year 2022, so we know that doesn't apply.

You need to look it up. We have listed resources. We don't even know the details for your taxpayer.
