How do I invite a client to Intuit Link?

This article will help you send a Link invitation. Intuit Link helps you get the answers and documents you need to get your clients' taxes done right the first time through a secure online portal. To give your client access to Link, you must first send them an invitation.

Follow these steps to invite a client to Link:

  1. On the left side of your screen, click Intuit Link.
  2. Press Create request.
  3. Select the client you need to invite.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Verify that the client's email address is correct. Click the pencil to edit the email address, if needed.
    • You'll be prompted to enter the client's email address if none was previously saved.
  6. Select the Organizer template you want to send this client.
  7. Click Preview to verify what your client will see.
    • Select Edit to customize any item for this client only.
  8. Once you're satisfied, click Continue. A new window will appear where you can customize the invitation email for this client.
  9. Edit the email text, if desired. When complete, click Publish and send email.

This error may occasionally be caused by our messaging service. If the service was momentarily down when you tried to send the invitation, just click the down arrow next to View Request, and press Resend invite.

If the error persists after you resend the invitation, then it was likely caused by using the same e-mail address for multiple clients. In order to use Intuit Link, each client must have a unique email address. To resolve:

  1. Click the down arrow beside View request, then click Delete.
  2. On the left side of your program, select Clients.
  3. Select the client's name from the list.
  4. At the top right corner of your screen, click Edit client.
  5. Update the client's email address.
  6. Press Save.
  7. Re-invite the client to Link.

If your client uses QuickBooks Online:

Your client will not receive the Link invitation since their account is tied to QuickBooks Online. In order to invite your client to Link, you'll need to create a new client. When creating a new client, you can use the same e-mail address or a different email address from what you initially used.

  1. Click the down arrow beside View request, then click Delete.
  2. On the left side of your program, select Clients.
  3. Press the New Client button at the top right or your screen.
  4. Enter your client's information.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Invite the newly created client to Link.
  1. Verify that you entered the correct email address in the client detail screen.
  2. Have your client check their email's spam or junk folder for the invitation.
  3. Ask your client to add noreply@intuit.com to their safe sender list.
  4. Click the down arrow beside View request, then click Delete.
  5. Re-invite the client to Link.
