ProSeries requires updates before allowing e-file conversion, but there are no updates to apply. When trying to convert efiles to transmit ProSeries will not create the efiles because it says ProSeries is not currently the most current version. This requires the transmitter to exit ProSeries and check for updates. No updates are found and the transmitter loads ProSeries and is now able to covert and transmit efiles even though ProSeries is at the same version as it was when the error message originally appeared.

You shouldnt need to exit ProSeries to check for updates, its right on the toolbar. And it it tells you to update but then says your version is current, then you need to use REFRESH Updates at the bottom of the Updates drop down menu on the toolbar.

Lisa,

I appreciate you're taking the time to respond, but it's obvious to everyone in our office that you do not understand the problem. Your response also assumes that we do not know how to use ProSeries works which is far from true. We check and apply updates daily. This is simply a case of ProSeries not always knowing what version it is currently at when it tries to convert efiles.

Ok, just checking to make sure you knew about the REFRESH option (many people have never noticed it down there at the bottom of the updates menu), lots of update issues started happening in the 2018 program and refresh has really come in handy for that stupid message that says youre not up to date when you try to Efile, but when you run an update it tells you that you have the most current version.

The two of you place nice in the sandbox.  The point Mr. Broadway raises is a valid point, however, one of the issues I have with doing a Refresh is that it refreshes all of the Fed and State products you are using, which can take long time to refresh at times.  If you use a lot of state programs, it can take a while
