Dual Status Return

I have a client with dual status in 2020. He was a resident until June 2020 and non resident for remainig part of the year. How to efile a dual status 1040NR and 1040 return in Proseries.

The other part is if the client does not have any US sourced income during the time he was non resident. Is he still required to file the 1040NR or just a regular 1040 would suffice for the part of the year he was resident?

You will be filing this return on paper. You will probably need 2 ProSeries files-one for the 1040 and one for the 1040NR.

I also have a similar issue. I think that what I need to understand is the mechanics. I need to file a 1040 for the Resident portion and a 1040NR for the non resident portion. Do I split the income that is on the W-2? All of the income was US sourced and on one W-2. Husband also had a small amount of income. Does he need to file a separate 1040?

Thanks!
