I looked on NYS DOR website and verified it's possible to do this. https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/efile/pub-93-current.pdf
Proseries for some reason won't let me. I can't even override the box where the entire payment flows to. Client owes about 8k and wants to pay 2500 by direct debit. This is infuriating.
Anyone have any insight?

When I'm this close to a deadline I NEVER use ProSeries to withdrawal the payment with efiling the return. I don't trust the process. I always use IRS Direct Pay. And Indiana (where I am) doesn't allow direct debit with the return. Have to use DORpay system.
So if you can use NYS DOR website to make the payment you desire - do. At least then you know it was done correctly.
