Taxpayer sold lot of land (long term) in ID for a gain. Taxpayer lives in CA. Reported Sale of land on federal 8949. What about the states?

Sounds like you get to prepare a nonresident ID return and maybe generate a tax credit to use in CA.
Barber! Why didn't I think of this before? Getting paid to give out bad tax advice - need I say more? I've run with scissors for years so it is a natural fit.

You may want to check online the instructions for ID and CA... Should be on the Department of Revenue websites...
