Depends on the state, many (most?) piggy back on the federal return.

Sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me.  Why are you extending the federal but trying to get the state filed on time?

me too!   If the fed is complete enough to file state, it should be complete enough to file the fed as well.

@bogwhan you realize an extension only extends the time to file the return, not pay any money due, right?
If the federal return is complete, just get it filed.
