Do you still have to change amounts in individual tax returns after splitting a MFJ return? Amounts on Line 7 does not seem to be allocating correctly.

Splitting to MFS is always messy, you have to go through each MFS return and make sure everything split right.

If its a community property state, its even messier

Thanks for a reply, but unfortunately, I still couldn't get it to work. After MFJ return was split, the amounts of both taxpayers' was not evenly split into Box 1. I took your advice to adjust the income on Schedule 1for the wife, which was easy because she made below the 50% amount. The husband wasn't as easy because he made more. Ended up having to do overrides to wages and federal income tax (all they had) and now I can't refile. Does that seem right? No one at Support could help
