Business Use of Home (Form 8829) - Simplified Method for an S Corporation (Schedule E)

Hi all -

In ProConnect Tax Online (PTO), I'm able to attach a Schedule E (S Corp) activity to Form 8829 for the purpose of taking the $1,500 deduction using the Simplified Method.  ProSeries seems to only allow the attachment of a Schedule C activity to Form 8829 - how do I bypass this issue?

Technically there is no such thing as a home office deduction in a corporate setting. The only option is to have an Accountable Plan whereby the entity reimburses the shareholder for the reportable expenses. But you must have an Accountable Plan document signed by the proper authority of the corporation to make it official policy.

Your person with the home office is an employee of that S Corp, and employees no longer get to report Unreimbursed Expenses for tax purposes. That's why you cannot get things to link properly.
