That's one question that I think is going to require some more details.

My client had to care for her mother in Riverside County, California in parts of October, November and December of 2019 and she had to spend approximately $21,000 to clean the house due to hoarding. She has Power of Attorney over her Mom financially and medically. Her mother had to be in an assisted care facility and her house had been condemned due to hoarding/cat hoarding/non-working plumbing My client had to get house cleared out, sanitized and repaired in order to have it inspected and cleared for her mother to live in again. Might any of this amount be deductible?

As an expense for a trust or estate holding a residence before sale? Yes.

To clean out a personal residence so the owner can live in it? No.
