military W2 asking for state ID

I am getting a critical error because I didn't enter an employer's state ID number on a military W2.  The W2 doesn't have a state ID, but ProSeries is automatically putting in the state and state wages amount, and then a critical because I don't have the ID.  How to correct this?  I have marked the box for military pay.  Thanks.

Sometimes, you can put the Federal EIN in place of the State ID# and get it filed.

What is the members State of Residence that he claims?

What state do you have him filing?

I was military for 27 years, always a TX resident so my W-2 never had a state.  I always filed as a non-resident in the state I was stationed in if they had a state tax.

You can fix it by filling in Part XI on the information worksheet for non resident
