Due to an issue in our 2019 ProConnect Tax New York Individual Tax program, returns filed between October 7 to November 5 excluded some dependent information on NY Form IT-203 NY Non-Resident and Part-Year return. The issue occurred for NY Non-Resident and Part-Year Resident returns only.

Your client may have already received a written notice from the New York Department of Taxation and Finance (NY DTF):

  • Requesting more information to substantiate the dependent information
  • Increasing the amount of tax owed on the return

To resolve this for your client(s), you should e-file an amended return IT-203-X before November 21, 2020 when, E-filing for the 2019 tax year will close and will not be available again until January 2021. Even if your client has not yet received a notice, we recommend proactively filing an amended return for potentially affected clients.

To identify your affected clients and get information about e-filing a NY IT-203-X amended return:

If you or your client has already reached out to the Department, follow the instruction provided to you.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.  If you have questions, please contact us at (800) 200-7599.
