Should a college student age 19 not be claimed by parent to receive stimulus payment?

Because he is over 17 his parents doesn't receive anything for him where as if he claim himself wouldn't he get a check?

Is that a good reason?  Do you agree that the student can simply claim himself not to be a dependent of the parents even if all the facts say otherwise?

Parents do get the benefit for credit for other dependent, but I agree with @itonewbie to let the law decides if the student is a dependent or not, and the rest follow.
