E-file Transmission Failure in Proconnect (but with no critical errors showing)

HKPC
Level 2
We are running into an e-file transmission error, but without any critical errors showing or anything we can identify as potential issues. The error message says:

"Requested efile items contains a mix of spouse and other efilings. This is not supported. Problem occurred transmitting efile data."

Just in case it's related, this is for an expat client (joint return, spouse also an expat), one dependent, federal and state return, FBAR.

Has anyone else run into this issue, or have any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks!

Hi there,

In ProConnect, each Form 114 must be e-filed by itself, without any other returns.

If I'm remembering correctly, the way to resolve this is on the File Return tab, un-check the boxes under "Select tax return(s) to e-file" for both the taxpayer and spouse 114 (if both are filing). This should allow you to e-file just the federal and state income tax returns first.

Once those are submitted, go back to the File Return tab and check only the box for Taxpayer 114 to e-file it by itself. Last but not least, check only the box for Spouse 114 and e-file it.
