Client's return was accepted a month ago (3/14/20) but the IRS website says it is still processing. This is a very basic return. Has anyone noticed this sort of lag?

Does the return have any of the F 8867 credits on it?

Those can delay processing.

a couple of notes--I have one held up-taxpayer died-that seems to slow things down

some retirees who don't really need to file, have large w/h of fed tax and their returns are always slow--

my clients actually recd an IRS letter verifying their identity et al--they now paper file

seems some people can't save money and want the govt to hold it for them!
