I keep getting diagnostic #5218.  W-2 wages don't report properly on page 2 of CA 540

Do you have the state wages if different and the HSA from the W-2 entered correctly?

The diagnostic says not to use the State if different input.  So, where do I enter the difference?

Did you enter a Code W for Box 12? If so, that is all you need to do. DO NOT enter state wages if different. The HSA should just show up on Sch CA in Column C for a wage adjustment.

That answer makes a lot of sense, but it doesn't work.  That's the was the system should pick up the info, but not so.

@johnjohn91201 Where are you entering the HSA? Have you indicated in the W-2 sections "State, if different" For anything? In the lower section of the W-2 where the State and State EIN show up in a grid, did you enter the state wages?
