eFile Extension for Deceased Taxpayer and Spouse?

My client's spouse passed away in 2019.  I am trying to eFile her Extension and getting a diagnostic that says the Extension must be filed on paper, but see conflicting information about this online.  Does anyone know for sure?

Remove DOD. Efile extn. Put DOD back in.

Mine where both people were dead was accepted uneventfully by following that procedure.

Then for filing the actual return (PR finally got me the signature pages after I'd given up), I got a "this return will be rejected" diagnostic that prevented the e-file from creating. Suppressed e-file error checking, sent it off, return was accepted uneventfully.

Yes they are.  It's flagged as MFJ.
