tax returns retained

I realize this may not be a very important tax question to some, but it is to me!  I have a very small apartment, and even smaller office.  Can you tell me how long I have to keep my paper returns?   I appreciate any advice, because I am starting to sleep standing up, and my Bulldogge is sleeping on top of the filing cabinet!  LOL  

Seriously, I would appreciate what help you can give me.  Thanks so much! Looking forward to a new season!!       Blessings to all!!!

The requirement is in circular 230.  

Think about printing to pdf and saving in client folders. Same for client documentation; w2's etc. They take up a whole lot less space that way.
