How to send documents to a client through Intuit Link

Before you start

  • The maximum file size that can be uploaded to Intuit Link is 30 MB.
  • For security purposes, the client has to accept an invitation before a preparer can send documents through Link.
  1. Click on the client name in your Intuit Link client list.
  2. Click the Documents tab.
  3. Click Upload To Client.
  4. Browse the hard drive to locate the file(s) you want to send to the client.
  5. Select the file(s) and click Open.
    • To select a consecutive group of files, click the first item, hold down the SHIFT key, and then click the last item.
  6. A progress bar will appear indicating the files are being uploaded. When the file is uploaded, click Done.
  7. The file will now appear under the Shared by you section.

What the client will see in the taxpayer portal

The attachments will appear in the Documents tab along with an accountant's message.

  1. Click on the client name in your Intuit Link client list.
  2. Click the Add Request button.
  3. In Request Type, select Document.
  4. Type your desired text in the Request Text field. (Text is required)
  5. Click Attach File(s).
  6. Select the files you need to attach and click Open.
    • To select multiple files, hold down the Crtl key on the keyboard while clicking on the files.
  7. When complete, click Done and then Save.
  8. When ready to send the documents to the client, click Send Without Email or Send Draft Request.
  • You can also add documents to a request that are in Draft status by pressing the arrow next to the Edit button and then clicking Add Attachment.
  • Documents can't be uploaded to requests with a Sent status. If you would like to attach a document to a request that is in Sent status, delete the request. Then use the steps above to re-add the request and attach the document.
