Uninstall Rename and Reinstall ProSeries Network Installation

Many issues can be corrected by uninstalling Intuit ProConnect ProSeries Professional Edition or Intuit ProConnect ProSeries Basic Edition.

Note: If at any time a warning appears stating that ProSeries is still in use, close the Task Scheduler in the System Tray. Look for a ProSeries icon near the time and date at the end of the Task Bar opposite the Start menu.

Network Workstations:

  1. Select the Start, button and click the gear shift icon to get to Settings
  2. In the Search, type Control Panel
  3. Select Control Panel from the list
  4. Choose Programs and Features
  5. Highlight ProSeries 20YY in the list and click on Uninstall/Change.
  6. An uninstall dialog box will appear.
  7. Click on Select All button and then click then Uninstall button.
  1. Select the Start, button and Type "ProSeries 20YY" in the search box,
  2. Select the Uninstall icon
  3. Click on Select All button and then click then Uninstall button.
  1. Select the Start button and select the All Programs or Programs item
  2. Select the ProSeries 20YY folder and select the Uninstall icon.
  3. Click on Select All button and then click then Uninstall button.
Rename ProSeries directory:
  1. Press the Windows key + E key to open the Windows File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:ProWinYY.
  3. Right-click on C:ProWinYY and select the Rename option.
  4. Add old to the end of the name so the directory now appears as C:ProWinYYold.
  5. Press Enter to finish the renaming process.
  1. Run workstation setup from ProSeries 20YY WKSTN folder found in the ProSeries network directory:
    • Execute file directly:
      1. Press the Windows key + R key to open Run prompt.
      2. Type X:ProSeriesProNetYYwkstnsetup.exe and press Enter key.
    • Navigate to file:
      1. Press the Windows key + E key to open Windows File Explorer.
      2. Navigate to X:ProSeriesProNetYYwkstn.
      3. Double Click on setup.exe.
  2. Proceed through the installation.
  3. When ProSeries 20YY opens, after installation completes, should the Options Setup Wizard prompt appear, select Express Setup and proceed through the wizard to verify information presented.

ProSeries Admin Workstation and Server:

  1. From the ProSeries 20YY admin workstation,Select the Start button and Type "ProSeries 20YY" in the search box,
  2. Select the Uninstall icon and
  3. Click on Select All button and click on the Uninstall button.
  1. From the ProSeries 20YY admin workstation,Select the Start button and select the All Programs or Programs item
  2. Select the ProSeries 20YY folder and select the Uninstall icon.
  3. Click on Select All button and then click on the Uninstall button.
Rename ProSeries directory:
Perform the following steps for each of the following two directories:
  • C:ProWinYY
  • X:ProNetYY
  1. Press the Windows key + E key to open the Windows File Explorer.
  2. In turn, navigate to one of the above directories.
  3. Right-click on the directory and select the Rename option.
  4. Append old to the end of the name so the directories now appears as:
    • C:ProWinYYold
    • X:ProNetYYold
  5. Press Enter to finish the renaming process.
  1. Go to https://proconnect.intuit.com/
    1. Hover over Sign In
    2. Click the hyperlink for your Product
    3. Enter your Email or user ID and Password
  2. Once the Dashboard displays, please click on the Download Products link.
  3. Select desired Tax Year from the drop-down box.
  4. Click on the appropriate URL for ProSeries 20YY and then click Save.
  5. Once the file has finished downloading, run the file and confirm any prompts for permission.
  6. On the Product Selection screen of the installer, check the box for Federal 1040, at the very least; at most, select all products desired.
  7. On the final screen of the installer, uncheck the box for Launch ProSeries before clicking Finish button.
