City Return Information

New York City and Yonkers:

If your client was a resident of New York City or Yonkers for the entire year:

  1. On the left-side menu, select General.
  2. Click on the Client Information screen.
  3. Scroll down to the New York Information section.
  4. In the NYC/Yonkers Resident field, select option 2 or 3.

If your client was a part-year resident of New York City or Yonkers, follow these steps to generate Form IT-360.1:

  1. On the left-side menu, select State & Local.
  2. Click on Taxes.
  3. Select the NY Change of City Resident (IT-360.1) screen.
  4. Complete the necessary entries in the NYC or Yonkers column:
    • City resident from date
    • City resident to date
    • The County while nonresident
    • The Number of full months in residence period
    • The Allocation percentage. This will be used to allocate the federal amounts to NYC or Yonkers.

If your client needs to file Form Y-203, Yonkers Nonresident Earnings Tax:

  1. On the left-side menu, select State & Local.
  2. Click on Taxes.
  3. Select the Yonkers Nonres Earnings Tax (Y-203) screen.

If your client needs to file Form NYC-202 for a New York City Unincorporated Business:

  1. On the left-side menu, select Income.
  2. Click on Business Income (Sch C).
  3. Press the X more button at the top right of the input screen, then select State & Local.
  4. Check the box labeled New York City unincorporated business.

The Schedule C information will flow to NYC-202 automatically. For additional input, use the State & Local section in the screens, NYC Unincorporated Business (TP) and NYC Unincorporated Business (SP).

Ohio cities:

  • Add city in the Profile screen. Program generates Regional Income Tax Authority (RITA), Central Collection Agency (CCA), and General city returns as well as the Akron, Columbus, and Cincinnati returns based on the city selected. Screens with Ohio city return related input include the Wages screen, Business Income (Sch C) screen, Rental and Royalty screen, the passthrough K-1 screens as well as the city related screens under the State & Local section.
  • In the State & Local section, in the screen, OH Cities (City Information), in the field, "Resident city (full year resident only)" select the city for the full-year residency. For part-year residency or nonresidency, leave this field blank and enter the applicable city in the screen, OH Cities. A separate screen will be necessary for each city by clicking the "+" icon at the top of the screen.

Pennsylvania cities:

  • The program generates the generic city or local earned income tax return for a Pennsylvania city as well as the Philadelphia BIRT, NPT, and School income tax return. The cities can be selected in the Profile screen. Screens with Pennsylvania city return related input include the Wages screen, the Business Income (Sch C) screen, the passthrough K-1 screens, and the city related screens under the State & Local section.
  • The program does not generate the Philadelphia city return to report wage income per the city tax authority guidelines. To generate the Philadelphia business returns, go to the State & Local section and then to the screen, PA Cities Business Tax. Check the box, "20XX BIRT (Philadelphia)" or "20XX NPT (Philadelphia), as necessary. Checkbox is also available in the Business Income (Sch C) screen as "Subject to Philadelphia business tax (PA)."

Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, and Oregon cities:

  • For Kentucky, the program generates the city returns for Lexington and Louisville. The cities can be selected in the Profile screen. Must also indicate city in the State & Local section in the screen, Kentucky Cities. City related input in the Wages screen, Business Income (Sch C) screen, Rental & Royalty screen, passthrough K-1 screens, and city related screens under the State & Local section.
  • For Michigan, the program generates the city returns. The cities can be selected in the Profile screen and must also be selected in the screen, Michigan Cities, under the State & Local section. City related input in the Wages screen, Business Income (Sch C) screen, Rental & Royalty screen, passthrough K-1 screens, and city related screens under the State & Local section. In Wages screen, must enter "Date worked in City from" and "Date Worked in City to," for wages to be allocated appropriately.
  • For Missouri, the program generates the city of St. Louis and Kansas City returns. To generate these returns, go to the State & Local section to the screen, MO Taxes, to the city related sections.
  • For Oregon, the program generates the Portland and Multnomah returns. To generate these returns, go to the State & Local section to the screen, OR Combined Report Form (Form SP-2016).
