An update to Lacerte Tax on July 29, 2020 will replace the current login experience, through Internet Explorer, with a new experience through Chromium

Before the release:

  • Make sure you have your password handy - Your password will not be remembered when you install the update on 7/29/20
  • Make sure you've updated your email or phone number in case you have to use the "Forgot My Password" feature. You can update your information here.
  • Make sure you know your password or have updated your information on your account, prior to updating your program.

After the release:

  • You will no longer be able to use password-saving functionality.
    • Please note, this was never a feature of Lacerte, but a feature that Internet Explorer had.
  • The ‘Remember Me” functionality to save Email/User ID will still be available.
  • The first time you login, you'll be required to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
    • Please note, this will not happen every time you login, just the first time
  • This update will only affect Lacerte Tax 2019 and future versions.

We are making this change because:

  • Security is our top priority at Intuit. Our new login widget makes you less susceptible to data breaches from external sources.
  • Our new login widget uses less memory on your computer which will improve the performance of Lacerte.
  • You will experience less CAPTCHA requirements.
